What a fun project! This outdoor education company came to me with an old site that badly needed a redesign. They also had a very deep and wide content architecture. It was very easy to get lost while navigating their site. In fact, when I bid out the job, I underestimated because I didn’t find half the pages when I originally looked around.
Here’s what it looked like before:
In the end, I did a full re-architecture of the content pages, giving them a consistent navigation experience across multiple sections of their site. I completely redesigned the look and feel of the site, including a new color scheme with a more natural feel. I softened up and reworked their existing logo to fit into the new site design. I also set up a cool javascript/css drop-down menu for their main menu. That was a fun challenge, but exciting when I got it working and looking great across browsers, which is the big challenge for CSS-driven drop-downs.
The site was built using Wordpress, with a custom theme designed against the meta-rich Sandbox theme. With this setup, the client can easily update their content pages and maintain a cool blog for their site. I think they definitely got their money’s worth for this one!
